My view on the Lowell situation.

I'm with management about not signing him for more than 3 years, but why not overpay him for those 3 years. If they offered him even more than what they already have, maybe he'll forget about the years. Cause lets face it, money is no object for the Red Sox and I think Lowell will have 2 more good years (although not as good as this year) and then he will start to decline. So overpay him for 3 years and not have to worry about his contract holding them down in years 4 or 5. Does anyone know if the current offer has a player or team option for the 4th year?
