The signing of Schilling atleast makes me wonder if the Red Sox are considering dealing for Santana. It probably would take both Lester and Buchholz to get him, but I wouldn't put it past Theo tow two two great propects for a youth hall of famer. Yes, Lester and Buchholz have both been impressive but greatness isn't promised. That deal would give the Red Sox a top 3 who would all be dominent for the next 7-8 years and could easily fill in guys like Bowden and Masteron for the 4-5. With a top 3 like that your 4 and 5 guys only have be be decent. Don't get me wrong I would much rather keep Lester and Buchholz but having Schilling, Beckett, Wakefield and Matsuzaka for 08 atleast makes you think they might think about a deal like that. I would have to believe they would want to have an extension for Santana in place too since he only has a year left on his contract. It's a long shot but I would think Theo would considr trading two (all be it great) prospects for a picther who if isn't the best in the game is in the top 3.
