Coco and Minnesota

| Rotoworld reports talks are heating up between the Twins and Boston. I would assume Santana would be talked about too right? Cause who else would the Red Sox want from Minnesota. ESPN also reported the Twins and the Yankees ahve started talks about the lefty.

My view on the Lowell situation.
|
|
I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| I'm with management about not signing him for more than 3 years, but why not overpay him for those 3 years. If they offered him even more than what they already have, maybe he'll forget about the years. Cause lets face it, money is no object for the Red Sox and I think Lowell will have 2 more good years (although not as good as this year) and then he will start to decline. So overpay him for 3 years and not have to worry about his contract holding them down in years 4 or 5. Does anyone know...

Santana

I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| The signing of Schilling atleast makes me wonder if the Red Sox are considering dealing for Santana. It probably would take both Lester and Buchholz to get him, but I wouldn't put it past Theo tow two two great propects for a youth hall of famer. Yes, Lester and Buchholz have both been impressive but greatness isn't promised. That deal would give the Red Sox a top 3 who would all be dominent for the next 7-8 years and could easily fill in guys like Bowden and Masteron for the 4-5. With a top...

Two thoughts on Buchholz
|
|
I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| I think the Red Sox should atleast consider using Buchholz how the Yankees used Jaba Chamberlein. With Schilling now signed, the Red Sox have 6 startes and I know a lot can change but it's atleast worth thinking about. Have Buchholz as a dominant setup man for a year. That year can help him adjust to playing a full major league season before becoming a fulltime starter. I would love to see him start but of the 6 starters now, he has the best makeup to be in the pen.

2008 Rotation
|
|
I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| If the Red Sox resign Schilling (and more and more of the "experts" seem to think so in the last few days) who's the odd man out of the rotation. Beckett, Matsuzaka and Schilling are locks, but theres 3 guys for 2 spots after that. Wake, Buchholz, Lester: I can't imagine Lester or Buchholz in aaa. Does Wake hanh it up? If all 6 are back it might be a dual in spring training between Lester and Buchholz and the case could be made for either guy: Buchholz looked more than ready...

| There is a poll on boston.com now on whether parents are going let their kids skip school tomorrow for the parade. As of right now the results are pretty split. I don't have any children yet but you have to let your kids go see this. There is just somethings you can't learn in school and tomorrow will be an experience which will stick with them longer than anything they'd learn in school tomorrow. Cause lets face it some of their classmates aren't going be there and that's a distraction in...

| Beckett Game 1
Schilling Game 2
Matsuzaka Game 3
I would assume game game we will see a combination of Lester and Tavarez; probably Lester starting since he's been picthing with Tavarez getting the call if Lester struggles. Just a guess though. Too bad Buchholz wasn't healthy enough to stick around, would of been a good spot for him.

Yes, i know this would never happen so don't jump all over me, just imagine it...what else do we have to do on an off day right? Go Sox!

My Key to Game 4

I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| Forget about who should be pitching...wakefield or beckett. Forget who's pitching for Cleveland, it wouldnt matter if it was sabathia or carmona, my key tonight is: get pedroia and youkilis on base. It's a must so Ortiz and Manny and Lowell can do their thing. If they get on the Red Sox will score all the needs they need to tie up the series. Lets go Boston!!

Josh Beckett

I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| I know Beckett has been a whole lot better this year than last, thats obivious. But one small thing I thought he did tonight set the tone for the whole evening... after he gave up the home run to Hafner, he acted like nothing happened and just went onto the next batter. Last year he probably would have thrown out some curse words in that situation,. I know it's a small thing but I felt like the way he reacted (or lack there of) rubbed off on the team and the whole atmosphere of the...

Just a Thought

| If the Indians-Yankees series goes 5 games Cleveland would be forced to use atleast one if not both their aces to try and wrap up the series. Leaving Westbrook and Byrd left to pitch games 1 and 2 of the alcs. Just a thought. And if the Yankees were to win who cares who would start they don't have an ace.

| Lets give a lot of credit to Theo and his guys for the farm system they have put together through the draft. People tend to get on him for signings like Drew and Renteria and trades like Gagne (I am not one of those people), but look at what he and his guys have done through the draft. The future looks extremely bright with the likes of Buchholz, Lester, Ellsbury, Moss, Papelbon, Delcarmen, Hansen. Then there are the already made stars of Pedroia and Youkilis. When was the last time a Red Sox...

Schilling

I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| While I thought Schilling gave us a really good effort yesterday, one stat really scares me about him. He only had 2 ground ball outs! 15 fly ball outs and 4 strike outs. That few ground ball outs disturbs me because it tells me two things. One, with Schillings home run problem is going keep reoccuring because the more fly balls the more chances they have to leave the park. And second, his split isn't that great; thats his out pitch and their just not beating it into the ground. Schillings...

| Don't look now but the Red's are only 7 games out of first in the extremely weak NL Central. Bronson is 3-2 this month, following a July where he had an era under 3. The reds are also 16-10 this month opposed to the the Red Sox who are 16-11. I know its a long shot, but its nice to see Arroyo picthing better than earlier this season. Itd be a great story too if the Reds could really get back into the thing after taking much criticism during the trade deadline for not moving Dunn or any of...

Rotation.
|
|
I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| Looks like the Red Sox are trying to set up their rotation again to have Matsuzaka-Beckett-Schilling face NY in September. Otherwise, I don't think they would push Lester to Sunday while having Tavarez go. Saturday would have been Lester's spot if they went with him on normal 4 days rest. I for one would like to see Lester go against NY. Leftie arm against a lefty lineup; plus I think it would bring the best out of him. I wonder if their giving Bucholz any consideration of starting if Lester...

Schilling

|
I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| Just wanted to make this statement before it happens. Schilling will come up big today and toss a gem. I know he's been anything but great this year (except for the Oakland and Cleveland games), but I believe he'll come up big when they need it today. Its not do or die today, they will still take the division either way, but you don't like getting swept by anyone. Schilling will slam the door today, get the lead back to seven and put to rest any hopes of a Yankee comeback this season.

Lead off.
|
|
I support JD Drew. wrote this 1 year ago on |
| I think they need to keep Lugo out of the lead off spot. He is only 3 for his last 20(.150) while batting lead off; while he's 4 for his last 12 (.333) in the 9th spot. I know its just a small sample but it seems Lugo has just felt more comfortable batting anywhere besides lead off all year. Pedroia seems like he has been the best from the lead off spot this season (6 for his last 19 for a .315 average). I'd also like to see them have Drew there more often; I don't think he should be batting...
