Well, this person is not a fan of the product that NESN gives us during the broadcast of Boston Red Sox games;how do the rest of you feel about this comment ???

If we wanted to watch a talk show, there are plenty of them on at other times (“Season is a cool one for Red Sox [team stats] on NESN,” Aug. 15). We want to watch and listen to a ballgame, not inning-long interviews, not previous interviews from another commentator, not personal life stories and discussions about food, clothes, telephones, TV, silly dating games and much giggling. NESN and the Red Sox have created an egomaniac in Jerry Remy, who thinks he can do or say whatever he wants, even reading a newspaper, and Don Orsillo just caters to him. We only need one announcer, not three commentators. Folks, listen to Joe Castiglione on the radio if you really like Red Sox baseball.

I love NESN. After spending years away from the area I could not be happier watching it. Remmy is probably the best baseball play caller that there is. Sure he is silly and some times overboard but I would not want any one else calling our games. This guy knows his baseball. Watching a game on Fox or ESPN is 100 times worse.

Sometimes NESN can be overproduced. However after watching many YES, ESPN, and FOX broadcasts (Along with several broadcasts of other teams I'm watching), even though NESN may be imperfect, it's still my favorite.

While I could live without the Sox Appeal stuff and other things they do to attract the casual fans, it is still CLEARLY the best place to watch a ball game. Fox, not only do the announcers suck for the most part, but they won't even commit to true HD. NESN gives us stunning 1080 broadcasts and I HATE when they are on any other station. I love Remdawg and Don. Great chemistry!

I am confused... Did you write this Mikey or is this something pulled off the Herald... If it's from the herald you should post the excerpt in the News section.

I think they do a great job, and this is baseball, there is usually time to have a little fun, it's far better than the Michael Kay experience that I must endure during the Yanks/Sox games. I actually prefer Sterling and Waldman.

Don and the Rem dog can be over the top. I'll take them over FOX or ESPN.

Hey, they make me laugh, they make blowout games watchable. They aren't anywhere near as insufferable as Morgan & Miller or Buck & McCarver. As for the rest, does NESN overhype themselves? Sure. But unfortunately it's the way of media these days. Take ESPN, it's not so much about sports as it is about pimping other ESPN properties. ESPN the magazine, ESPN the failed cellphone service, ESPN Eight (the Ocho!), etc. I tune it out... ...View More

As much as Jerry Remy is a walking billboard for his commercial ventures, he also is the best analyst that we know. Yes, NESN knowingly took a downward dump when Hazel Mae and Tina Cervasio were allowed to walk. Were both of them "eye candy"? Perhaps one could say that, but they knew their stuff as well.

... and ... remember, the days of the legacy announcers - Coleman, Gowdy, Martin and Woods, Mel Allen, are nearing an end. Broadcast outlets do NOT want anyone to become legacies...
