Adrian Gonzalez is a consideration!!!
July 27, 2009

Yes Adrian is being considered by Boston!!!

Some of you offered favorable comments on my past articles that Adrian Gonzalez would be a good fit and that Boston should be looking at him and indeed was probably doing so. Thank you. However I also received comments that I was pulling this information out of thin air because I did not read my information from another site and then post it as mine (which is often done). Instead I researched and reported my conclusions, which is what any good reporter would do. Well, finally ESPN reports today what I have been saying all along and therefore I want six packs of Boston's finest from all those naysayers out there. lol

Once again, today it was reported by ESPN that Boston is interested in Adrian.

Anyway, Adrian has been struggling recently, which might actually make the trade easier for us to put together. We would have to give up two of our minor league players or one recently called up pitcher, etc. Boston can do this but, if they do what are we going to do with LaRoche? He could get traded again. It just makes me wonder why they went for LaRoche before they began looking at Adrian?

What does Boston Nation think about the possibility to get Adrian? Will they pull the trigger or trust in what they have?

Also, anyone notice that Lugo has been hitting now that he is playing in St. Louis?

DRAFTAHOLIC!!!

I like this move, if it gets done. Legit power to protect Papi and allow Bay to relax. Good hitter and a bad hitting ball park. His numbers will blow-up in Fenway. As long as we don't give up too much, this is a great move. Gonzalez is legit.

I believe he would be a great fit in boston. Yes we will have to give a lot up but he wont just be a rental player. we have him for the next couple years. laroche is just here for this season most likely. Did i mention AG is young? he will offer protection to bay and youk and i think the team will get back on track quicker,if he comes to boston

i think were gonna have to overpay for him. at least 2 or 3 top prospect. including Clay and masterson. i really hope Bard is untouchable though. he has been one of our best arms out of the pen of late

If they give up at least 2 or 3 top prospect, it won't be for him. It will be V. Martinez

How do you overpay for a rare talent at 1b? Besides give away some pitchers, give away Lars who has not been doing too well, and we still will have a deep minor league grouping to chose from.

If you going to "Sell the Farm" as they say. I would go with Martinez. It would be nice to have another catcher as well. He has higher BA, 25 less So's and his an established AL Hitter.

I hope that the deal gets done...for sure. He would be a 40ish home run guy in Boston with that short porch...and yes, I called you out last week and last week there were only crappy grumblings about it..kind of "what if" scenario's...it seems to be picking up some steam, but I am not going to get at all excited until he is in Boston. If that happens you will see Youk playing both third and first and Lowell playing 3rd and DHing...spelling Papi (that is if Lowell isn't part of the deal). Laroche and Masterson...for Gonzalez...LMAO ...View More

THe problem with Martinez is his knees...he was playing a lot of first base because his knees are already bothering him. We already have an old gimp at the corner...I don't want to get another one.

Gonzalez is a GREAT option for Boston, as well as San Diego. From what I've heard, their farm system is so under developed and could really benefit from a few key players in our organization in order to build for the future. He would be a great fit - and yes, Lugo going 8 for 14 in 3 games is the natural "rebound" for an underachieving short stop - he's probably loving the NL pitching. Guess what - we don't need him!!! ...View More

Martinez is gonna end up being a first baseman. he is a horrible defensive catcher. i would much rather get AG for 2 or 3 top prospects. and as some of you have said he will be a 40 plus homerun guy in fenway park.

MBL and ESPN are reporting that it is highly unlikely that Gonzalez gets moved...the Padres GM said that he isn't in a hurry at all and could use him and heath bell as trade pieces in the off season. So this is still a 100% guess on most people's part...Olney is saying that he is staying in SD. So there is no RERAL evidence that we are getting Gonzalez...nobody is even taking about who might be traded yet. ...View More

Victor Martinez seems more likely at this point but Adrian would fit nicely into the lineup. He's got a good eye and causes fits for opposing pitchers. I saw Lugo play here in Philly this weekend. Funny how a change of scenery makes a world of difference. It wasn't working out for him in Boston - no hard feelings? Maybe a little.

K-Dub, it took ESPN two weeks to report what many of us already know. They have to put a spin on it, otherwise the news is not as exciting. Boston would not be looking if they did not consider the possibility of losing some prospects. We may or may not see this trade happen but it will be just as possible as any other trade, as long as Boston has interest there is hope. :-)

As to Victor M, yes he might seem more likely at this point because rumors started of talks between Cleveland and Boston last week. Since Garko has not panned out as they had hoped, moving Victor for LaRoche seems like a trade that works for both parties. The Padres want prospects, mostly pitching. They have a nice bat ready to take over; that being Blanks. Blanks is a power prospect and is one that I have posted about here as a possibility of owning every since he was called up. However, it made more sense to me for the Padres to trade the older player and keep the younger. So both teams can find purpose in trading away these two players...Victor and Adrian. I for one would like to see Adrian come to Boston, however Victor if he was willing to be a backup catcher (even with the bad knees) it could take the worry away from Boston if V-teck was injured sometime this season. ...View More
