So yah see, It annoys me when people come in here ( Sawxheads, MY retreat) and shove reality down my throat. I’m NOT Stupid.. I know what goes AND what went down. It’s just that this one hurt. (And I don’t need any Sympathy Scoobs, so FORGET IT)!
But I was WRONG, Yes.. WRONG. I instill on my boys Team play. Little League 101 to us. We win as a team and we lose as a team. Manny definitely WASN’T in Team mode through all this crap. But he was still a player THEY looked up to.
We seem to forget the Little League fields. That’s what Baseball is all about people. It’s NOT about the high $$$ MLB Players. It’s NOT about the squeaking wheel and Drama. It’s NOT about YOU nor ME.
It’s about …spitting your sunflower seed shells over the fence at your Son playing first base… trying not to giggle.
It’s about watching your Kid swing and swing away at that ball on the Tee. But she can only connect when YOU pitch it too her.
It’s about watching your kid go down in pain on a mis-judgement and behind tears , you HAVE TO say "Rub some dirt in it"
It’s about taking the "losing" Team to another spot in Town and getting Ice Cream after the game.
But all these "It’s about’s" are just coming from a Daddy of three. I am Truley Blessed. I get to see the game up front and TRUE. The way it’s meant to be. The way it’s meant to be played. The Wins… the Losses…The Heartaches and Thrills. Watching and listening to the Team go spastic , on Billy Bob Joe’s 20 feet run and dive , missing the ball 15 feet and he still comes up with a mouthful of dirt and grass Smiling.. Damn, I think..I’d be in traction for 6 months on that play ha ha ha ha GO SOX Future !!!!
These Kids LIVE for this, well ….. after most have launched off their B-Day Rockets, got their quota of Tad Poles and Dug the Hole to China. But the real ones come back next year and the year after that ..Baseball is our Magnet. Wozzers!! I am Blessed. We practice throwing and hitting ..but our main focus right now……. Gotta get "Big Mouth Blue" .. She’s THE big ASS Bass don’t yah know…(I know where she lives)
